You may recognise Lei’s surname?

The Talalelei Life Futures Fund was named for Talalelei (Tala) Vou, who died tragically in 2018, saving a New Zealander caught in a rip.

Tala was just 31 years old when he passed away, and his sister Lei just 12 when she lost her brother.

It was a poignant meeting with Lei in December to interview her for a scholarship.

All of our very fond memories of Tala rose to the surface.

Tala was particularly focused on improving access to educational opportunities within his village and community.

It was a pleasure and a wonderful giveback to approve Lei’s scholarship to the Tesese Institute to study towards a Certificate in Business Administration & Computing.

Lei is the youngest of 12 children, and only the second in her family to study to a tertiary level.
